In this Using and Managing WordPress Class you will learn how to use and update your WordPress website and/or blog, including
- User roles
- Pages: Creating/editing pages; and adding content including text, images, video clips, embedded content, links
- Menus: Creating navigation menus
- Blogging – Posts: Creating/editing post entries for the blog, featured content; and creating/editing blog categories, tags
- Widgets & Plugins

Private (One-on-One) Class
Class Description
Instructor will provide complete step-by-step directions on how to use WordPress including adding content to your Blog / Website. You are encouraged to bring with you to class content (text, images etc) you are adding to your website.
(1) Pages
Make a list of Pages you want to add to your site, such as About, Contact, or Home. Remember you always add new pages later
- Create new pages
- Understanding Page Attributes incl. Parent, Template
- Using block editor to add text content, media, etc
- Add pages to menu
- Ordering pages on the menu
- Create subpages / dropdown
- Permalink customization
- Publishing Pages incl. Date, Status, Visibility
(2) Post
What will you write about? Develop a content strategy and list of topics to blog about., and then make a list of the categories to organize your content by groups
- Create new pages
- Understanding Page Attributes incl. Parent, Template
- Using block editor to add text content, media, etc
- Understanding and using Featured Image and Excerpt
- Understanding and using Categories
- Understanding and using Tags
- Permalink customization
- Publishing Pages incl. Date, Status, Visibility
(4) Widgets and Plugins
General Information
In order to take this class, you must have
- existing self-hosted WordPress website and/or blog. [ NOT WordPress.com]
- Laptop with Wi-Fi capability and electrical power cord

- After registering for an online WordPress class, you will receive 2 emails: (1) immediately: receipt of payment; and (2) within 24 hours: online link for the class.
- If you are signing up on the same day as the class, no worries, we will ensure that you receive the link prior to class start time. Feel free to call / text: (212) 457-1643 if you did not receive the link.
- Once you receive the link, please follow the instructions. Important: Test microphone, video and connections, so you are ready on the day of class. *Please let us know at least 24 hours before class by email if you need assistance with any issues. We will schedule a private session with you prior to class to help you with this and any other pre-class issues.
- You must have a self hosted website to participate. [ NOT wordpress.com ] If you do not have a domain + hosting, we will help you with the setup process. *Please let us know at least 24 hours before class by email if you need assistance with obtaining domain + hosting or any issues. We will schedule a private session with you prior to class to help you with this and any other pre-class issues.
- Please verify passwords for your WordPress website admin (and hosting) *Please let us know at least 24 hours before class by email if you need assistance. We will schedule a private session with you prior to class to help you with this and any other pre-class issues.
- You should log into the class link at least 5 minutes before the start time.
- Remember: this is a hands-on instructor-led class, so feel free to participate .. ask questions at any time.
